Press Release: JA Launches New Interactive Event Series

FOR RELEASE: 02/10/21, 4p EST

Bedford, IN: JA Benefits, LLC is launching a new event series to be available at no cost to industry professionals, company owners, and HR professionals beginning with the first event on February 26, 2021 at 9am EST.

Journey+ is turning the ‘sit-and-listen’ style of the traditional webinar model on its head and, instead, creates a platform to encourage and facilitate interactive discussion between industry professionals. From leveraging the knowledge of expert panels to provide insight on trending topics to enabling experts to share insight on common pain points and strategy modifications that have proven successful, Journey+ provides a virtual support system in an industry that is rapidly changing due to the ongoing pandemic.

According to JA’s Partner and Business Consultant, Cory Johnson, “In reflecting on the events JA put on, as well as those we engaged with over the course of 2020, our team found we gained the most value from the times we were able to personally connect (via Zoom, of course) and have a real discussion. This prompted the desire to create a platform that would be interesting, engaging and fun for participants while providing a foundation for growth both personally and professionally.”

Staying true to the JA Benefits core values of Relationships, Purpose, and Growth, JA wanted to find a way to offer friendly support that would have a meaningful impact for customers and non-customers alike, helping professionals feel more connected and confident in their decisions and strategies.

Carrie Divens, a Benefits Advisor with JA shared her thoughts. “While 2020 presented uncertainty for organizations, it particularly presented additional work and burden for Human Resource Professionals. JA saw this need for support and focused on creating a comfortable setting for HR professionals to engage, learn, and share success and concerns for this ever-shifting landscape created by the pandemic. JA is expanding such engagements in 2021 through the launch of Journey+ with the intentional purpose of emphasizing JA’s commitment to helping organizations and professionals evolve.”

As so many have continued looking back at 2020 and the changes the pandemic has brought to our work environments and personal relationships, Carrie shared a different, more forward-looking outlook. “Simply put, Journey+ is JA’s way of investing in the Journey Ahead.”

“The circumstances many business owners have found themselves in over the last year have presented many extraordinary challenges. For example, in many respects, the job for an HR Professional looks vastly different today than it did two years ago. These changes have been rapid and continual. This type of environment could become overwhelming without the support and insight of your peers. Journey+ is designed to ensure these channels of communication stay open and interactive.” ~Cory Johnson, Partner/Benefits Consultant, JA Benefits.

JA Benefits, encourages HR Professionals, Company Owners, Leaders, and other industry professionals to engage with the Journey+ launch event taking place February 26th from 9am-10am EST where they will be discussing 2121 Findings: 2020’s Impact on Group Health Plans. For more information, you can visit the event page on JA’s website, https://jabenefits.com/ja-events, or you can directly register to attend at no cost here https://engage.jabenefits.com/journey-plus-feb26.

1 in 5 Deaths Worldwide Associated With Poor Diets

1 in 5 Deaths Worldwide Associated With Poor Diets

According to a recently published study, 11 million deaths in 2017 were attributable to dietary risk factors. That total number translates to one-fifth of the world’s total deaths. The study defines dietary risk factors and poor diets as ones that are heavy in sugar, salt and trans fats.
While this study reveals startling numbers, it’s a well-known fact that eating healthy can help reduce your risk of developing chronic conditions like heart disease or Type 2 diabetes. By keeping such conditions at bay, you can maintain your overall health and be well on your way to living a long, healthy life.

Here are some tips to help you start eating healthier:

  • Balance your plate with a variety of foods. Your plate should be 50% fruits and vegetables, 25% lean meat, poultry or fish, and 25% grains.

  • Get a personalized eating plan. Speak with your doctor to develop a plan that will give you the amounts of each food group you need daily. Your doctor may recommend you seek out a registered dietician or nutritionist to create the best plan for you.
  • Beware of sweetened drinks. Sodas and sports drinks are high in calories and sugars or sugar substitutes. Whenever possible, choose water over these drinks.
  • Read food labels carefully. Make sure to always read nutrition labels to find out how healthy a particular food may be. It’s also important to check the ingredient list, which is different from the nutritional label.

For more information on how you can improve or maintain a healthy diet, contact your doctor.
