Carrie Divens

Benefits Advisor

Since 2000, Carrie Divens has served the benefits consulting and benefits advisors industry. Previously, she worked as a Marketing Manager, resulting in the analysis of plan comparison, risk and rate evaluation, underwriting, projections and negotiations. She later transitioned to the role of Director of Market Analysis, serving as a team lead in strategic carrier negotiations and growing carrier partnerships. This led to Carrie becoming a Director of Consumer Engagement and Marketing, when she worked diligently to clarify and exceed client expectations by effectively applying solutions, business development, and carrier partnerships. Now, she uses her ample experience to excel as a Benefits Advisor at JA. “I’ve worked with employers who were faced with all sorts of obstacles related to their healthcare spend and overall human capital investment.  I’m excited to bring many lessons learned to deliver innovative solutions to best meet employers’ and their employees’ needs,” she stated, emphasizing her necessary skill set in strategic contract negotiation, discount and disruption evaluations, consulting complex plans and multi-state/location employer groups, and reinsurance risk evaluation, planning, captives and reference based pricing. Carrie is a licensed Indiana Resident Producer for Life, Accident and Health, and she is a Certified Self-Funding Professional.

Carrie added: “While employers may chew on the pros and cons of a self-funded medical plan over a fully insured program, there are a myriad of structural opportunities to consider for those who move into the self-funded space. I look forward to dissecting scenarios for employers and helping them establish a funding path that best meets their employee needs and business plan goals.”

Carrie graduated from Butler University’s College of Business, earning a Bachelor of Science, Marketing. While attending, she was the elected President of Alpha Chi Omega, and most recently, Carrie was granted the opportunity to serve as Secretary on the Butler University Alpha Chi Omega Sorority House Corporation Board.

When it comes to being an active community member and parent, Carrie soars. She is a Team Parent for her children’s school and club volleyball teams, served as the Coach for 3 years for her daughter’s youth cheerleading team, and is a Volunteer and Donor for The Julian Center, Goodwill, Conner Prairie, and the SENSE Charter School and Tangram.

Carrie recently celebrated her 20-year anniversary with her husband, Mitch, who is the Director of Business Development at Markey’s Rental and Staging. She has two sons, Blake and Chase, as well as a daughter, Ashley. The family is a proud owner of a chocolate lab named Murphy, and they all enjoy being extremely active in their community. They enjoy attending live concerts and ending their summer nights with sitting around the backyard fire pit. While Holden Beach, NC is near and dear to the family, having been a popular travel spot for Carrie over the years, her and Mitch love to escape to Key West, FL for some fun in the sun.
