PCORI fees were reinstated for an additional 10 years – the 2020-2029 fiscal years – with the enactment of a federal spending bill at the end of 2019. PCORI fees are reported and paid annually using IRS Form 720 and are due each year by July 31.

Form W-2 – Report the cost of health plan coverage on employees’ Forms W-2

This reporting requirement is mandatory for large employers but optional for small employers. The deadline for Form W-2s is January 31st.

Section 6055/6056 Reporting (Paper Filing Deadline)

Internal Revenue Code Sections 6055 and 6056 require applicable large employers (ALEs) that sponsor self-insured health plans to report information about the coverage to the IRS each year. ALEs use IRS Forms 1094-C and 1095-C to meet their reporting obligations under Sections 6055 and 6056. The deadline for filing these paper forms with the IRS is February 28 of each year.

CMS Medicare Part D Disclosure

Each year, employers with health plans that provide prescription drug coverage to individuals that are eligible for Medicare Part D must disclose to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) whether the plan’s prescription drug coverage is creditable or non-creditable. The deadline for the CMS Medicare Part D Disclosure is February 29.

Summary of Material Modifications

Employers who offer group health plans that are subject to ERISA must distribute Summary of Material Modifications (SMM) for any plan changes that were adopted at the beginning of the year that are material reductions in plan benefits or services. The deadline to distribute SMMs is February 29.

Unfortunately, many people look to fad diets and weight loss products to achieve their goals quickly, however, research shows that many people don’t find long-term success with these types of diets.

January is National Blood Donor Month. Historically, the winter season is one of the most difficult times of the year to collect enough blood products and donations to meet patient needs. While “whole blood” donations are the most common, individuals can also make platelet, power red and plasma donations.
