J.W. Fansler

Account Executive

Prior to joining JA, J.W. was creating some magic of his own within higher education at his alma mater, Purdue University. From business consultant to agricultural development educator to economics, finance, business strategy, and entrepreneurship, J.W.’s experience as an instructor and advisor to a wide variety of undergraduate students equipped him to perform a diverse set of tasks.

Throughout his years in education, J.W. found that he enjoyed making complex concepts approachable to help others understand and engage in economic, financial, or educational policies, including retirement planning, financial market analysis, and marketing.  He excels at personal and business strategy and is passionate about empowering others to make sound economic and financial decisions.

As an Account Executive at JA, J.W. uses these skills to present benefits information to clients, answer their questions, and develop strategies that meet needs while giving clients a great experience.

In addition to his Account Executive role with JA, J.W. also serves as a financial education consultant with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and helps his wife with her accounting business.

Prior to his current community involvement, as a Purdue student J.W. served as captain of the Agricultural Economics Quiz Bowl Team and participated in Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.  He was a TA and served as State 4-H Intern on campus. In addition, J.W. served as the Treasurer (one year) and President (two years) of Purdue Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE).  SIFE is an international social entrepreneurship organization, now called Enactus. J.W. also enjoyed advising the Purdue Enactus chapter while working on Purdue’s main campus after graduation.

J.W. enjoys spending time with his wife Stephanie and their two children, Joanna and Wesley. His hobbies include macro investment analysis and understanding how markets work together, as well as gardening (with growing Marigolds being a favorite), a round of fair weather golf with friends, and archery with his children.

J.W. and Stephanie love traveling and exploring new places, cultures, and foods. Some of the exciting places they’ve visited include the Pyramids of Teotihuacan near Mexico City, indigenous coffee fields and the Poas volcano in Costa Rica, and the streets of Krakow, Poland. Within the US, favorite experiences include climbing a cliff dwelling in Mesa Verde, Colorado, watching the salmon run upstream on the Kenia Peninsula in Alaska, photographing the scenery in Arches National Park in Moab, Utah, and visiting plantations in Charleston, South Carolina. They also enjoyed watching the first sunrise over US soil in Acadia National Park in Maine, and taking a boat to collect shells on Little St. George Island, along Florida’s forgotten coast.
